Design Services

The client initiates a project by submitting a work request (endorsed by the Department head) through the Building Liaison.

The request is reviewed and assigned a Project Manager in Engineering Services.

The Project Manager contacts the client to determine scope of work, budget constraints/ funding source, and any required deadlines. The job’s priority in the overall list of projects will also be assessed.

The Project Manager reviews existing conditions and original drawings, drafts the design in AutoCad, and writes specifications as required for client’s review.

Preparation for New Buildings:In conjunction with the Capital Projects group, Engineering Services works to transition Departments into new facilities.

Specifically, when Departments move to a new building, Engineering Services Coordinates the moves/ expansions of other Departments into the vacated spaces. These moves often result in renovation of offices to accommodate the new users.

Work includes: scheduling/ coordinating moves, coordination with moving contractor, pathway improvements as required, signage, renovations, and direction to shops for cleaning and painting existing spaces vacated by moves to the new building.
