During the course of the analysis and re-evaluation work by the design team, the University’s Task Force prepared a master plan program.  The identified need is to add 3,115,500 gross academic square feet to the existing campus of 1,433,000 gross square feet.  The program also adds 2,400 beds to bring the campus total to 6,370 and it adds 7,385 parking spaces resulting in 16,421 spaces on campus.  In addition, the University intends to build up to 1.5 million square feet of academic building space for research and classroom use to create the Charlotte Institute.  The table

found in the appendix shows this program arrayed into five phases to be built over 20 years.  The initial phase of the Charlotte Institute campus is limited to two buildings.
